What is a Doula?
A Doula provides continuous physical and emotional support and information before, during and after the birth of your baby. The word 'doula' is greek meaning 'Woman's Servant'.
A Doula Mothers the Mother...
A Doula recognises that birth is a key experience and one the Mother will always remember. Having a Doula creates a special bond, relationship and support person for your birth.
She will help your partner feel more trusting of the birth process and more confident in their role as support person. A Doula does not replace your partner, but works alongside the whole family.
Studies show that when Doulas attend births, labours are shorter with fewer complications and lower intervention rates! Babies are healthier and they breastfeed more easily.
Did you know? Research shows that mothers supported by a doula during birth have higher self esteem and less depression.
